How this is calculated
Manual monthly cost = pages × minutes-per-page × (1 + rework rate) ÷ 60 × your hourly value -- the rework rate is a simplified across-the-board time penalty for catching and fixing errors, not a per-page retry model. Service monthly cost is the cheapest way to cover your page volume using our real Starter ($7/up to 5 pages), Standard ($19/up to 20 pages), and Bulk ($39/up to 50 pages) tiers, repeating one tier as many times as needed (a simplification -- mixing tiers could occasionally cost a little less, this doesn't solve that combinatorially). Break-even hourly rate is solved directly: the hourly value at which manual cost would exactly equal the service cost for your entered volume.

Assumptions (not benchmarked -- replace with your own numbers)
Manual minutes/page (default 3) and rework/error rate (default 2%) are round-number starting assumptions we chose as plausible, editable defaults -- we are not citing a specific study for these two numbers and you should not treat them as verified research. The most accurate way to use this calculator is to time yourself re-typing a handful of your own real pages and enter that measured number instead.
Scope and limitations
This compares direct time/cost only -- it doesn't account for the value of faster turnaround, reduced risk of a missed error in a financial document, or the hassle of doing the work yourself. Service cost assumes ordering one tier repeatedly to cover your volume, not a combinatorial optimum across tiers. Not accounting, tax, or business advice. When required inputs are missing, this page shows UNKNOWN rather than a misleading number.
